We recommend that our patients visit our office every six months for a checkup. Regular checkups are the best way to ensure optimal oral health.
Tooth decay is the process of damage to the structure of a tooth caused by bacteria in the mouth. It is one of the most common problems seen by dentists and can lead to eventual tooth loss if left untreated. The bacteria releases acid, which breaks down the enamel and causes a cavity.
If your gums are bleeding, you should make an appointment with your dentist. Your dentist will examine your teeth and gums to look for any underlying issues and recommend the best treatment. Treatment for bleeding gums may involve a professional cleaning, antibiotics, medications, and other treatments. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to correct the underlying cause. Practicing good oral hygiene and regularly visiting your dentist for checkups can help reduce your risk of developing gum disease and reduce the chances of your gums bleeding in the future.
Teeth can get yellow as a result of a variety of factors, such as poor oral hygiene, smoking, aging, staining from foods and drinks such as coffee, certain medications, genetics, and trauma.
Tooth extraction can sometimes be painful, but there are ways to minimize the discomfort. Your dentist or oral surgeon can use local anesthetics to numb the area around your tooth, and may also give you sedation medication to help you relax throughout the procedure. After the extraction, your dentist might prescribe pain medications to help with any discomfort.
Laser dentistry is a branch of dentistry that uses lasers instead of traditional dental instruments to perform dental procedures. Laser dentistry can reduce the amount of discomfort experienced during and after dental operations, reduce bleeding, and can reduce the healing time required. Laser dentistry is used in many different applications, including detection and treatment of cavities, gum reshaping, and teeth whitening.
1. Rinse your mouth with warm saltwater. This will help with any bleeding or discomfort.
2. Apply a cold compress to any area that is swollen or painful.
3. Take ibuprofen or other over–the–counter pain medication, according to your doctor’s instructions.
4. If you cannot get to a dentist right away, you can put an over–the–counter dental cement to cover a broken or knocked–out tooth.
5. Make an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible. If it is after hours, look for an emergency dentist online or contact your dentist in the morning for an urgent care appointment.
Full dentures are a full set of artificial replacement teeth that replace all of the teeth on either the top or bottom jaw, while partial dentures are used when one or more of the natural teeth remain. Partial dentures are removable and are used to fill the gaps created by missing teeth.
You may need a root canal if you experience any of the following symptoms: tooth sensitivity or pain when chewing, receding or inflamed gums, severe toothache, visible pus around the affected tooth, or a darkening of the affected tooth. If you experience any of these symptoms, consult your dentist to determine if a root canal is necessary.
TMJs, or temporomandibular joints, are the joints that connect the lower jawbone (mandible) to the temporal bone of the skull. They are responsible for allowing the mouth to open and close while speaking and eating.
Botox injections can be used to effectively reduce bruxism or teeth grinding by numbing the hyperactive masseter muscles. This can help reduce pain associated with jaw muscles from involuntary clenching and grinding. It can also help ease TMJ pain in some patients.
